Sanctuary is the longest-running night in the city devoted to underground and alternative music and culture since Day One, and the second longest running night in the city overall, keeping Vancouver freaky for 10 solid years to date!

Come dressed to the 9's in your swankiest or freakiest gear or come casual, and join the weekly worship - whether it's the simple experience of the music you're after, heavy consumption or incessant dancing, this is the best kept secret in town!

Hosted by DJs Pandemonium (recently voted Vancouver's Best Local DJ in the Westender!), R-Lex & Vortex plus regular guests incl. Lucent, Pyxis and more, delivering your weekly molotov cocktail of dance tunes, aimed directly at the dancefloor!

This is the -real- dance underground, drawing simultaneously from the heavier and more electronic genres and rejecting the tired tunes of the mainstream, and delivering a mix of favourite classics and fat new tunes.

History:

Established in 1997, Sanctuary Saturdays is Vancouver's longest-running night devoted to alternative culture and music, and the second longest running night in the city overall. Originally started and thriving at the Palladium before moving to well-loved residencies at The Purple Onion, Sonar, Celebrities, The Red Room and The Lotus, Sanctuary now is found demolishing the dancefloor at Club 23 West, 23 West Cordova, on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of every month, alternating with it's sister night, the notorious Sin City Fetish Party.

Sanctuary is a place you can come dressed to the 9's in full freak regalia or insane costume and everyone will love it, or show up in jeans and a t-shirt and no one will blink, since everyone's just there to cut loose and have fun.

Attended by a huge crossover mix of freaks, punks, club kids, goths, rivets, hipsters, mods and every style under the sun and moon, there's a little something for everyone at Skank. The one thing the night ISN'T is the same shit hour after hour and week after week. What are you gonna hear? Deadly new tracks, favourite classics and shit from left field thrown in now and then for good measure. Beware!
